R Tonage Biography

ER Tonage was born on August 1, 1967, in Steyr, Austria. He grew up in the countryside near Steyr and attended school in neighboring towns, where he struggled through the 9 years of education required by law. Due to strong influences from his father, after completing his basic schooling, he pursued a more technically oriented trade and trained as a mechanic. He completed this training and worked in the field for many years.

Learning a musical instrument during school and playing in the local brass band was an early attempt to engage with music. Actually, it was his second musical endeavor, as his first was the recorder group in elementary school.

Although a long-term career in the local brass band didn't materialize, the desire to make music rather than just consume it never left him. It was simply put on hold temporarily - for many years - interrupted and diverted by several other jobs, both short and long-term.

Among other pursuits, he attempted to try his hand at graphic design. This was an interesting project as he had talent, but it was not long-lasting. A stint as a food vendor also came along and was endured. Although this part of his professional career was also short-lived, this detour, like all the others, brought him joy. He then spent over a decade on the road as a truck driver, which not only provided a living but also financed the lean early years of his musical pursuits.

After 13 years, the time had come for him to continue his journey as a musician, a path that had actually begun in the early 1990s when he first became acquainted with music production software.
